Carel van der Merwe

Carel van der Merwe lives and works in Stellenbosch. He obtained an MA in Writing (with distinction) from the University of Middlesex in 2005. Shark is his second novel. His first, No Man's Land, was shortlisted in 2008 for the M-Net Literary Award and the Commonwealth Writer's Prize (Best First Book Africa Region), and the Afrikaans version, Nasleep, was shortlisted for the University of Johannesburg Debut prize. He writes his books both in English and Afrikaans.
